Previous Week's Speaker: Paul Harris Foundation

PDG Jack Corderman drive up from Hagerstown to tell us about the Paul Harris Fellowships and the Rotary Foundation. We watched a video called Under a Blue Sky. The video told a By selling lots of these books we can do much good work toward eradication of Polio through the Rotary Foundation and the Polio Plus efforts.story about a family affected by dismal conditions in sub saharan Africa. The story tied how we live in a small world where conditions in one part of the world affect other parts. In this case the family was an educator from the UK on a teaching sabbatical in Malawi. The professors wife and daughter accompanied him. The daughter was made ill by water borne matter and air-evaciuated to the USA where the mother was from. The daughter gets better and the little girls grandfather, more than likely a Rotarian, in the USA in recognition of his daughters recovery and his recognition of the need to make conditions all over the worlld leaves a sum of money behind to start a fund to do good things.

Like the grandfather in this story, we can all do the same thing now by contributing to the Rotary Foundation where programs are established to accomplish these things, like Polio Plus or our own districts aids education project in Malawi, Africa.

If we all were to become sustaining members of the Rotary Foundation, a mere $100 per year, we could help Rotary do great things. This can easily be done by adding $25 to your quarterly club statement, after making an initial donation of $100 which will be matched by our club. In a couple of years, you'll be a Paul Harris Fellow too!
