The value of the cruise is $3500. Winners

from Harrisburg to a carribbean cruise port, and a cruise of 7 days.
The second prize is a 27" color TV; 3rd prize is a cash award
of $250.

Previous Week's Speaker: Polio
Plus presented by PDG Carol Walsh
This week our club heard from PDG Carol Walsh
regarding Rotary International's Polio Plus program and the charge
this year to raise the funds needed to complete the final assault
on the disease.
In 1988 there were 350,000 cases in 125 countries. In 2001 there were
600 cases in ten countries. This year there are seven countries remaining
in the eastern hemisphere that we need to eradicate polio from. The
disease is no longer present in the western hemisphere.
Rotary International is now raising funds to qualify for a matching
grant from the Gates Foundation of $80,000,000.00 total. We need to
reach this amount by June 30, 2003.
Carol showed a short film that would reach the hearts of anyone. It
is the hope that it will reach out pocketbooks too.
Carol let us know that funds contributed to the Paul Harris foundation
could be earmarked for Polio Plus. But what would be even better would
be continuing to contribute to Paul Harris and making additional contributions
to the Polio Plus fund campaign.
The link to online donations is here.
