Happy Happy Bucks are funds paid to the club to speak up and tell all why you are happy!Bucks Carl Hill after returning from a trip west to visit his son accompanied by his wife Jan and their exchange student Lassie# Kat who celebrated a birthday by cooking a specialty dish for Jade our exchange student from Brazil.

  • Our club will be sponsoring the district conference in 2013.
  • The GSE team from Denmark was here in May.
  • Proposed board of officers for next year was approved.
  • Mary Dearmitt had a leave of absense approved.
  • Brad Yeckley let us know there was sufficent interest in pursuing an idea for helping to line soccer fields
  • Polio Plus contribution match from Gates Foundation. Goal is $150 per club member.
  • An article in the State College Magazine highlights of efforts at the Famers Market.
  • Jim Eberly will be the district governor for 2012-2013
  • There was discussion about a joint fellowship meeting with the other Rotary clubs in the area.

    President announcements

    1. Nominations for Rotarian of the Year are due. Please forward your nominations to Don, preferably by email.
    2. We will install Bob Williams as our Club President for 2010-11 on 27 June.

    Meeting:

    Secretary: Club has 42 members and attendance for May was 67%.

    Treasurer: Report pending. Charitable Giving Committee (Rose Chair) will have to meet to decide on the use of excess funds after we have met all budget obligations. Final numbers awaiting Treasurer and Fundraising clarification of funds available for distribution.

    Membership: No Report. Lester voiced possibility of Doug and Theresa returning to the club.

    GSE: As Kat said, “They came, they drank, they left”. Their whirlwind visit went well.

    Foreign Exchange:

    1. All have been placed for their arrival. Still need family(s) in November for two boys. One is allergic to pet hair, so no pets.
    2. Mark is using Face book to bring inbounds, students currently in country and out bounds together online, lowering anxiety and answering questions they would probably never ask Mark

    RYLA: Still need volunteers.

    Vocational Service: Dick Jones will announce the names at our next meeting.

    UNA-USA: Cathy Brown represents our club and attended her first meeting. She will report to the cub next week.

    Fellowship: Noreen has volunteered to host our annual Club Picnic on Sunday, 27 June. Club will provide hamburgers, hot dogs and drinks. Member need to sign up to bring the rest of the picnic fare. This is family event.

    Foundation: N/R. Meeting June 17th before our weekly meeting.

    Fundraising: Jason and Carl need to get together to finalize 2009-10 numbers.

    PR:

    2. Article on Foodbank Project (Roger Fetter). Nice job Laurel on highlighting Rogers great work.

    Sgt at Arms: List is available through July on the table during meetings and on DACdb.

    Note on possible District 7350 growth: (Jim Eberly) RI is considering closing the district to or Northeast and moving some of those clubs to 7350. Clubs are being given the chance to decide where they would prefer to go. STAY TUNED FOR DEVELOPMENTS.
