  • Previous Mystery member's experience: This Rotarian was fired after 4 hours of work for Allen Funt (from Candid Camera).click for answer
  • The District Newsletter is online at the district Web site.
  • Happy Happy Bucks are funds paid to the club to speak up and tell all why you are happy!Bucks from: •After the dual hurricanes last week, Hugh Mose was happy about connecting with his wife's parents who live in Florida. They are fine!

  • The coupon books contacts are due out and back. Get your letters out and follow up. Contact Pat Coble for more information.
  • Remember when bringing a guest to introduce them as such and not as a prospective member even if they are one. This could save embarrassment on the part of everyone in case someone is not approved.
  • a new proposed member P.B. was approved by the membership committee and the board for membership in the club. There is now a ten day period.
  • Jim Eberly reported about Rotary's Central Parklet Project sponsored by the two SC clubs. The new "Children's Play Space" will be lot of fun for kids. The total costs of the project are $50,000. 50% needs to be raised by the two SC clubs as part of Rotary's 100th anniversary in 2005. Bricks are on sale ($100 for first kid name, $50 for each subsequent). The bricks will be used for the walkway. A pamphlet was distributed. Please be selling bricks!
  • International Conference 2005 is in Chicago, June 18-22, 2005. It is probably a good idea to make reservations for attending this now.
  • Jim Eberly mentioned the Centennial project. We are selling bricks for $100 to raise money for the park. The subsequent bricks are $50. Funds donated are through the clubs 501(c)3 so that means tax deductible. At summer concerts in the parklet we will be doing water sales to raise money too. The remaining date is August 10. Mark your calendar!
  • The club has a list serv. All active members are on it. The email address for it is SCDTROTARY-@LISTS.PSU.EDU. Email Paul Rutter to see about your admission. It is a private listserv not open to the public. If you are already on it and want help with it please call or email me.
  • mystery answer: Don Bedell was fired by Funt back in the early 90's when Don wasa doign videography work in Southern California. The odd part is Don has seen the footage he put to gether used on air. Don said he thought durign the four hours that he might be the object of a candid moment, since he had gone to lunch with the CC crew and everyone was complaining about Allen Funt.
Previous Week's Speaker: Club Assembly

This past week we had a club assembly.
We talked about menu changes at Damons. Several changes were recommended to make the meals better. One great idea was for skipping a meal and using that money for brick purchases. Several members were solid behind this idea after the meeting. Other ideas were for better meatier salads. And more soup and salad options. A proposal for desserts was tossed about too.

Carl is in Croatia. The treasurer's report shows we are still solvent.
Our club secretary addressed make-ups and introduced new make-up cards.

Pat Coble spoke about the coupon contracts. We are lagging behind in getting contracts in. We had 26 last year and only have 16 right now. The date to get things to the printer is Thursday, September 16th.

Jim spoke about brick slaes. The club is obligated to $12,500 for 1/4 the cost of the children's gazebo. We need to sell many bricks to get this project moving. Please talk to your friends and associates regarding the project. Sell a brick!!

Roger talked about selling water at the home football games. He said he and Mark Meckstroth sold about $70 worth of water and had fun.

There are a couple of proposed members in the ten day period. If you have any hesitations regarding either, contact Terry Edwards, chair of the membership committee.
