Scholarships
- Julian McBride sponsored by our club, won the Ambassadorial Scholarship
this year. More news later on where he'll be going.
- Consider becoming a Paul Harris sustaining
member.
- The club presented a $100 donation to the Paul Harris Foundation
as a tribute to DG Doug Riley on his visit.
- The Ambassadorial Scholar that our club is "counseling"
has arrived. She is Sarah Lannes, from France. She will be taking
acourses in Electrical engineering during her year here. More later
about Sarah and presenting to the club.

- Doug Holmes was unanimously elected in the the office of club
secretary.
- Linda Friedman told us we voted to do a coupon book this coming
year as a fund raiser to help support Polio
Plus.
- Rotary International approved an Internet Club. It can be used
for make-ups. The URL to the club is http://www.rotaryeclubone.org.
- Meg brought in a great article from Fortune.com from 4/30/03
entitled “Rotary
vs. Polio.” (click link to read it!)
- The club has
a list serv. All active members are on it. The email address for it
is SCDTROTARY-@LISTS.PSU.EDU. It only works if you are a subscriber so if you aren't on it and want to know
even more about the club Email Paul Rutter to see about your admission.

Doug started off telling us about the DG uniform as selected by the
International President and its references to previous years uniforms.
Our club was the 24th he had visited out of 44 clubs (and its just
August!). Goug told us a little baotu his backgroudn with cancer and
the cancer society.
Doug spoke about the theme for the year of "Lend a Hand."
There are 5areas that Doug wants us to focus on this Rotary year.

Doug asked us to appoint a family Rotary chair for the club. He closed
by pinning the board members.

Reminders on makeup's:
All makeup's are good for credit toward
meetings missed 14 days before or 14 days after the makeup. Makeup's made
at other Rotary Club meetings also get a dues credit. Makeup's at service
projects get attendance credit only. All makeup cards should be turned
into the club secretary promptly. To find out where you can makeup, check
the RI Club Directory, or District Web site.
