Week's Speaker: SPCA
John Matrisciano |
The ASPCA was founded in 1876 in response to carriage horses being
neglected. Today the animals needing service are mainly dogs and cat.
The mission of the ASPCA is to promote kindness and prevent cruelty
to animals. John’s purpose in speaking to us today was to educate
us. It is his purpose to educate everyone about the potential 20-year
commitment we make when we choose to adopt an animal.
The ASPCA statewide manages about 50,000 animals during the course
of one year.
In response to questions:
1. Do you receive more animals when the semester ends? A. No. Although
there are a few abandoned. The students have gotten the message about
animals.
2. What was your most exotic animal? A. Couldn’t really say specifically
but they have had monkeys, mountain lions, and bears.
This weeks note taker: Linda
Friedman
