At the end, you print out your make up slip and submit it to current secretary
Ms. Friedman.
The club has a list serv. All active members are on
it. The email address for it is SCDTROTARY-@LISTS.PSU.EDU. Email Paul Rutter to see about your admission.
It is a private listserv not open to the
public. If you are already on it and want help with it please call or
email me.
There are two relatively new Web pages up.
One is for Rotary Foundation Program alumni. The
hope or goal behind this page is to keep members aware of persons
in our community that might benefit further from Rotary by membership
or participation in other things we are doing. The second page is
on the District Web site. It honors the
Veterans in our Rotary community. Both pages are still in an initial
building stage so if you know of anyone that has been left out, please
let me know so I can include them.

Week's Speaker: Greg Piper from the Centre Peace Mission |
The speaker was Greg Piper from Centre
Peace.
CentrePeace promotes a restorative justice system by modeling programs
within our communities and correctional facilities that are based
on healing brokenness rather than on vengeance--centering on peace
rather than on fear, and offering avenues of accountability rather
than alienation.
Our goal is to reduce the return-to-crime rate (recidivism) by providing
inmates with the skills that will enable them to eventually lead productive
and fulfilling lives. Inmates learn to resolve problems non-violently
and to treat others with dignity and respect. They learn that habits,
attitudes, and beliefs can be changed for the better. Punishing people
by locking them away does little to halt the cycle of crime and violence.
Restorative Justice includes the concept of healing brokenness and
works to help offenders assume responsibility for their actions.
