  • Previous Week's Speaker: Christy Zabrowski from Habitat for Humanity

Tri-County Habitat for Humanity (TCHFH) works in partnership with God and our communities to build simple, decent, affordable houses for qualified families in need of adequate shelter. http://www.tricountyhabitat.com is their address.

Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit, faith-based ministry building affordable homes for those in need.

Property and building materials are donated or purchased with funds from donations, mortgage payments, and fundraising projects. Labor is provided by volunteers and by prospective Habitat homeowners who invest a "sweat equity" of 350-500 hours and make a $500 down payment. Houses are sold for approximately the cost of land and materials. TCHFH provides 20 - 25 year, no interest mortgages.

Family selection is non-discriminatory, based on housing need, ability to make payments to purchase the home, and willingness to work in partnership with Habitat. Homes are energy-efficient and easy to maintain.

TCHFH is one of over 1700 Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) affiliates in the U.S. and more than 90 other countries. Founded in 1976 by Millard and Linda Fuller, HFHI has built over 150,000 decent, affordable homes for God's people in need.

“If we only listen to those whom we already see eye to eye, we will never create better understanding, a concept that is at the core of Rotary.”
-Martin G Molony, District 1160 Governor, Dublin Central, Ireland
    in The Rotarian, January 2006

"Of the things we think, say or do:

    Is it the TRUTH?

Is it FAIR to all concerned?

Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?

Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?"
