came from: Carl because he spent 4 days with youth exchange students and was able to go rafting on the Youegagheny River (& it is over &I know I can't spell the Yakigany River or whatever it is) Pam told us South Hills had won an award from a state organization for which she was the nominating person. It was for engineering programs. Don Bedell let us know about the Bellefonte Cruise and the band that Don is the way cool bass player for.
Jerry Friedman will be installed as the next District Governor of District
7350 on June 24 at the Nittany Lion Inn at lunch. There will then
be a Bar-B-Que at chez Friedman that evening. Details are on the district
Web site.
Charlie Hackett was inducted into the club for a second time. He was a former charter member and was a club Rotarian of the Year back in 1992-3 and was a Presidents Award winner in 1991-1992.
GSE Team applications are due by August 1 for the exchange to Germany. WE REALLY NEED A FIRST HOST FAMILY FOR THE ROTARY YOUTH EXCHANGE STUDENT FROM BUENOS AIRES. PLEASE CALL DOUG HOLMES (
238.3205) OR CARL HILL (359.2920) IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO HOST OR IF YOU KNOW SOMEONE WHO DOES. YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE A ROTARIAN TO HOST A ROTARY EXCHANGE STUDENT.
There is still some outstanding money for the spaghetti dinner. Please turn in any ticket or auction money if you have not yet done so.
From
our Treasurer Carl Hill--The club can match your first $100 or your last
$100 if you can commit before the end of the fiscal year (30 June).
After at least 7 years without an increase, the board approved an increase
of dues from $100 to $115 per quarter. This amount covers meals each week
and dues to district and RI.
The new international theme is "Lead the Way."
If you have coupon money please get that in. You can still sell those
babies.Coupon sales are still happening. Extras can be picked up from
Tracy Sepich. Sell Sell Sell your coupon books. Paul made
a flier that might help sell
these things which actually sell themselves: 49 coupons for various values
in town! Contact Rotarian Dr. Tracy Sepich to get your coupon
books. Her office is over by Lowes in the old Philatelic building.
Point your web browser to: http://www.rotilink.org/eClubs/ click on a club's Website and follow the directions to do make-ups
with the e-club. At the end, you print out your make up slip and submit
it to current secretary Linda Friedman.

Week's Speaker: Christy Zabrowski from Habitat for Humanity |
Tri-County Habitat for Humanity (TCHFH) works in partnership with God and our communities to build simple, decent, affordable houses for qualified families in need of adequate shelter. http://www.tricountyhabitat.com is their address.
Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit, faith-based ministry building affordable homes for those in need.
Property and building materials are donated or purchased with funds from donations, mortgage payments, and fundraising projects. Labor is provided by volunteers and by prospective Habitat homeowners who invest a "sweat equity" of 350-500 hours and make a $500 down payment. Houses are sold for approximately the cost of land and materials. TCHFH provides 20 - 25 year, no interest mortgages.
Family selection is non-discriminatory, based on housing need, ability to make payments to purchase the home, and willingness to work in partnership with Habitat. Homes are energy-efficient and easy to maintain.
TCHFH is one of over 1700 Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) affiliates in the U.S. and more than 90 other countries. Founded in 1976 by Millard and Linda Fuller, HFHI has built over 150,000 decent, affordable homes for God's people in need.

If
we only listen to those whom we already see eye to eye, we
will never create better understanding, a concept that is
at the core of Rotary.

Is

Will
