After at least 7 years without an increase, the board approved an increase
of dues from $100 to $115 per quarter. This amount covers meals each week
and dues to district and RI.
The June 1 Meeting has been moved to May 30 when there will be a combined
meeting of the three State College clubs, Pleasant Gap and one other.
Jerry Friedman's installation as District Governor
will be June 24th. Noon at the Nittany Lion Inn. There will be a party
afterwards at the Friedman's home. Details are on the district
Web site.
Two prospective members have been approved by the board and membership
committee, and will be inducted soon. One of them is a former charter
member, Presidents Award winner 1991-1992, and Rotarian
of the Year in 1992-1993.
Paul Rutter was named a Paul Harris Fellow for the
second time by a Rotary club in Cashiers,
North Carolina. His mom and step-father live in Cashiers where his
step-father is a senior active member of the Cashiers Rotary club. Paul
built a Web site for the club, his "retirement" Rotary club
in about 30 years.
We are still in need of home families for youth exchange next year.
Carl or Doug can give you more details. For the State College School District,
there is a boy from Argentina, and two girls- one from Belarus and one
from Japan. Home families are usually from August to Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving
to March, and March until June.
The Spring Lederer Park clean up was rescheduled and held on April 29.
Pam Ferguson chaired
this event.
The new international theme is "Lead the Way."
If you have coupon money please get that in. You can still sell those
babies.Coupon sales are still happening. Extras can be picked up from
Tracy Sepich. Sell Sell Sell your coupon books. Paul made
a flier that might help sell
these things which actually sell themselves: 49 coupons for various values
in town! Contact Rotarian Dr. Tracy Sepich to get your coupon
books. Her office is over by Lowes in the old Philatelic building.
Point your web browser to: http://www.rotilink.org/eClubs/

with the e-club. At the end, you print out your make up slip and submit
it to current secretary Linda Friedman.

Week's Speaker: Tatjana Kavlitz from
Germany and Rafal Olak from Poland |
Our program today was a pair of presentations from inbound
youth exchange studetns from Germany and Poland. Each told us about
hteir country and family and what they had accomplished while in State
College. Most important, or noted by me, was Tatajana will miss the
spirit of State College High School. She said schools in Germany did
not possess such a thing.

If
we only listen to those whom we already see eye to eye, we
will never create better understanding, a concept that is
at the core of Rotary.
-Martin G Molony, District 1160 Governor, Dublin Central,
Ireland
in The
Rotarian, January 2006

Is

Will

Will
it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?"
