Happy Bucks
from: Paul Rutter announced he was happy to be leading a bus trip to NYC on June 17th to benefit the United Way. Tickets for a "Do As You Please Day" are only $45!
Don Bedell announced he was haappy to be working with PDG Carol Walsh again and that his dad had succesful brain surgery. Laurel Sanders was happy to be back from Germany and Prague with both of her children.
Doug Holmes was happy to bring a banner from the club he visited while in Sweden.
Jana King is back from Slovenia.
Our ever so humble, meek, and quiet treasurer corrected the never wrong newsletter editor in that the club is not in the black as noted in the previous edition of the newsletter. The club is not in default either though; but we do need dues to be paid. If you owe 'em, get 'em in. After at least 7 years without an increase, the board approved an increase
of dues from $100 to $115 per quarter. This amount covers meals each week
and dues to district and RI.
The June 1 Meeting has been moved to May 30 when there will be a combined
meeting of the three State College clubs, Pleasant Gap and one other.
Jerry Friedman's installation as District Governor will be June 24th.
Noon at the Nittany Lion Inn. There will be a party afterwards at the
Friedman's home.
Two prospective members have been approved by the board and membership
committee, and if their ten day period goes by with no "black balls" they will join us. Last day to voice a concern is May 14th. If you have
anything contact President Teresa.
Paul Rutter was named a Paul Harris Fellow for the second time by a Rotary club in Cashiers, North Carolina. His mom and step-father live in Cashiers where his step-father is a senior active member of the Cashiers Rotary club.
We are still in need of home families for youth exchange next year.
Carl or Doug can give you more details. For the State College School District,
there is a boy from Argentina, and two girls- one from Belarus and one
from Japan. Home families are usually from August to Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving
to March, and March until June.
The Spring Lederer Park clean up was rescheduled and held on April 29.
Pam Ferguson chaired
this event.
The new international theme is "Lead the Way."
If you have coupon money please get that in. You can still sell those
babies.Coupon sales are still happening. Extras can be picked up from
Tracy Sepich. Sell Sell Sell your coupon books. Paul made
a flier that might help sell
these things which actually sell themselves: 49 coupons for various values
in town! Contact Rotarian Dr. Tracy Sepich to get your coupon
books. Her office is over by Lowes in the old Philatelic building.
Point your web browser to: http://www.rotilink.org/eClubs/
click on a club's Website and follow the directions to do make-ups
with the e-club. At the end, you print out your make up slip and submit

Week's Speaker: none |
Our program today was a presentation of the recent GSE
team's trip to Milan, Italy for an entire month. The team leader Debra
Dellaposta from Altoona and team members Eugenio Saenz and Kimberly
Fragola spoke over a slide show with great images and history of their
trip from April 1 until April 30.
At the end Eugenio made a plea for language instruction
to be treated as an important part of the selection process for future
teams.
Note taker: Paul Rutter & Ellie Beaver

If
we only listen to those whom we already see eye to eye, we
will never create better understanding, a concept that is
at the core of Rotary.
-Martin G Molony, District 1160 Governor, Dublin Central,
Ireland
in The
Rotarian, January 2006

Is
it the TRUTH?
Is
it FAIR to all concerned?
Will
it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
Will
it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?"
