Happy Bucks
from: Roger because he
was happy to be back at a meeting.
Carl was happy to report on voting in the next elections. He had been
at election training and said we'll have choices beyond candidates!
Adrian was happy not to be attending a Chuck E. Cheese with 400 screaming
kids.
We are in need of home families for youth exchange next year. Carl or
Doug can give you more details. I know for the State College School District,
there is a boy from Argentina, and two girls- one from Belarus and one
from Japan. Home families are usually from August to Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving
to March, and March until June.
The Spring Lederer Park clean up will be April 22. Pam
Ferguson is chairing this event. Bring driveway brooms, rakes,
and gloves.
The new international theme is "Lead the Way."
We have two new members, Lester Cutter and Jean Gerber.
Congratulations to them. Inductions were held on March 16!
It is not too early to register for the District
Assembly and the District Conference.
Coupon sales are still happening. Extras can be picked up from Tracy
Sepich. Sell Sell Sell your coupon books. Paul made a flier
that might help sell these things which actually sell themselves: 49 coupons
for various values in town! Contact Rotarian Dr. Tracy Sepich
to get your coupon books. Her office is over by Lowes and the old Philatelic
building.
Point your web browser to: http://www.rotilink.org/eClubs/
click on a club's Website and follow the directions to do make-ups
with the e-club. At the end, you print out your make up slip and submit
it to current secretary Linda Friedman.

Week's Speaker: Jennifer Shuey from
Clearwater Conservancy |
Jennifer
Shuey, executive director, spoke today on behalf of ClearWater
Conservancy of Central Pennsylvania, a Centre County based land
trust and natural resource conservation organization formed in 1980.
Their mission is to promote conservation and restoration of natural
resources in central Pennsylvania through land conservation, water resource
protection, and environmental outreach to the community.
Everyone working together to conserve natural beauty and
the environment in the heart of Pennsylvania
it is a broad and
inclusive vision, but one that ClearWater takes seriously as we develop
the partnerships to address conservation issues.
ClearWater's highest-priority current project is the conservation
of Musser Gap on Tussey Ridge between Shingletown Gap and Pine Grove
Mills. Learn more about the project and how you can help.
Musser Gap Project
ClearWater's highest-priority current project is the conservation
of Musser Gap on Tussey Ridge between Shingletown Gap and Pine Grove
Mills. ClearWater intends to purchase the land from a private landowner
who had planned to develop the 423-acre property. After purchasing the
property, ClearWater will turn it over to the Pennsylvania Bureau of
Forestry for use as a new recreational gateway into Rothrock State Forest.
Musser Gap is part of two Important Bird Areas, as designated by the
Pennsylvania Audubon, and is also within the one-year zone of contribution
of the State College Borough Water Authority's Harter and Thomas well
fields, which supply drinking water for the majority of Centre Region's
residents.
Arbor Day Project - Beatty Memorial Arbor
Day Tree Planting & Celebration
Participate in the restoration of an impaired segment of Spring Creek.
The State College Elks Club has been a great partner over the past few
years. This planting season kicks off with the upstream stretch of the
restoration plan.
Bob Williams thanked Jennifer.
Note taker: Paul Rutter & Mark Whitfield

If
we only listen to those whom we already see eye to eye, we
will never create better understanding, a concept that is
at the core of Rotary.
-Martin G Molony, District 1160 Governor, Dublin Central,
Ireland
in The
Rotarian, January 2006

"Of
the things we think, say or do:
Is
it the TRUTH?
Is
it FAIR to all concerned?
Will
it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
Will
it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?"
