Joe Geiss announced that he has some auction items for the spaghetti
dinner, and is seeking someone to volunteer to write cards that indicate
the gift item, donor, item name, etc., and bring both the cards and items
to the event;
Linda Friedman indicated that she had just returned from a marvelous
Rotary event where 1500 people from 150 countries were in attendance and
where it was announced that this year there was only one case of Polio
in India, and only two more countries where the disease has not been eradicated;
Teresa Davis announced that the Rotary Leadership Institute will
take place on March 25 and that she has flyers for anyone who is interested
in attending;
Carl Hill indicated that a third host family is needed IMMEDIATELY
for exchange student Rafal, who is from Poland.
We have two new members almost, Lester and Jean, who have
each passed their ten day periods. So congratulations to them. Inductions
will be before too long
Rotary Leadership training is being held in Bedford on March
25th. If you are interested the club pays for your tuition to attend.
Paul Bell held new member orientation this past week. Tracy was
able to have her red badge converted to blue.
Our club's next monthly board meeting will be held at the Autoport,
at 8AM, Tuesday the 7th of March.
Don Bedell, and Jim Eberly made announcements regarding
the upcoming spaghetti dinner: Jim says to sell tickets, and Don mentioned
that he is assumptively closing all those past contributors for ad placements
on our placemat for the event There is room for 7 more ads so contact
Don now. He says next to radio advertsing this is the best! Jim spoke
for Ray who was not here saying that we are in need of items for the silent
auction.
It is not too early to register for the District
Assembly and the District Conference.
If you need more spaghetti tickets you can get them from Jim Eberly
Auction items for the event are
being sought by Ray Papale.
Coupon sales are going well. Some have been sold by mail. Extras can
be picked up from Tracy Sepich.
Quarterly bills were distributed by Carl Hill. The Club
needs the money.
Sell Sell Sell your coupon books. Paul made a flier
that might help sell these things which actually sell themselves: 49 coupons
for various values in town! Contact Rotarian Dr. Tracy Sepich
to get your coupon books. Her office is over by Lowes and the old Philatelic
building.
Point your web browser to: http://www.rotilink.org/eClubs/

Week's Speaker: Frank Gatto and his classification talk |
Frank Gatto has had a very full and interesting life,
to say the least. He graduated from Penn State with a degree in secondary
education, after which he made a career in the Air Force. He spent thirty
years in the Air Force, beginning as an airlifter and navigator, and
he spent about seven thousand hours flying airplanes; while he never
flew Air Force One, he has flown a Vice President, as well as former
President Ford and also Rockefeller. He had a variety of other experiences,
including some medivac airlifts for soldiers in Vietnam. Ultimately
he moved back to Dover, then on to New Hampshire. In 1976 he started
his second career in the services in Jakota, Japan, where he served
as the Controller & Chief of Peacetime Aerial Reconnoissance (in
the Far East, which involved the Navy, Army and Air Force). In 1979
he returned to the States, to the Pentagon, where he worked closely
with budgets.
At some time during his service in the Air Force, Frank obtained a Master's
Degree in Business Management, and he continues to use his teaching
and business skills in other work where he helps people learn to teach
and train effectively. He has been officially retired from the forces
for 15 years.
Frank came to State College in 1991 as a single parent of a fifth grader,
and eventually married his current wife and inherited two girls. He
also has two grandchildren. While his previous hobbies had included
fishing and running, he takes pleasure now in reading, computers, and
travelliing.
Note taker: Laurel Sanders

If
we only listen to those whom we already see eye to eye, we will never
create
better understanding, a concept that is at the core of Rotary.
