- David Hellyer was present asa member today. He'll be inducted at
the next assembly.
- Dana Catalano was inducted to our club in a previous meeting, making
him the second active member of our club to emigrate from Lewistown.(I'm
the other one-Paul)
- The membership committee is underway under new chairpersonship,
Terry Edwards.
- Mayumi Doi was recongnized in the CDT for coming in second in the
district track and field tournament in the javelin.
- Membership Committee sign-up sheets are being passed out, get your
selections in to Roger for what you want to do or else you will be
placed where your help is needed most.
- The board approved sending two students for RYLA summer program.
Leann Martin is taking care of the organizing behind these efforts.
RYLA is a big program from Rotary. This is our first year in a long
time participating. RYLA
is Rotary Youth Leadership.
- There is a signup sheet going around for the volleyball fundraiser
over Memorial Day weekend. Jim Eberly is the list keeper.
- There is a signup sheet for the Special Olympics too. That is the
next weekend, June 5-6. We will run the popcorn booth.
- We received thank you letters from the YMCA and a note recognizing
that we had fulfilled our pledge to them.And the borough for our Spring
cleaning of Lederer Park.
- Please sign up to lodge the RYEX kids on Sunday night, June 13.
You can pick them up at Carl's old church after dinner and deliver
them back there the next morning after serving them breakfast.
- Jim Eberly mentioned the Centennial project. We are selling bricks
for $100 to raise money for the park. The subsequent bricks are $50.
Funds donated are through the clubs 501(c)3 so that means tax deductible.At
summer concerts in the parklet we will be doing water sales to raise
money too. The dates are July 27 and August 10. Mark your calendar!
- Ron Taverno was graduated with a MPA from Penn State Saturday. Congratulations
Ron!!
- Linda Friedman's daughter was graduated from Gallaudet Unviersity
in the District of Columbia.

Week's Speaker: Sandy Smith from Homerun against drugs |
Sandi Smith was our speaker today. She delivers a message against
drugs to second graders in a 45 minute to one hour time period.
Sandi discussed the organizations anti-drugs, anti-smoking program.
She tells studnets about setting goals, and creating good habits using
a variety of visual aides, including Mr. Gross Mouth and a huge cigarette.
Sandi reminded told us of the dangers of illegal drugs. Each child
receives a personalized hardback book that talsk about the evils of
smoking and drugs.

All makeup's are good for credit toward
meetings missed 14 days before or 14 days after the makeup. Makeup's made
at other Rotary Club meetings also get a dues credit. Makeup's at service
projects get attendance credit only. All makeup cards should be turned
