Program: Club Assembly
Secretary’s Report While attendance had been up to 77% in March, it fell to 66% for April. Treasurer’s Report was distributed. Carl is moving this week so he was not present. Our Foundation should be up and running by July 1st. This will allow contributions to be tax deductible. Thanks to Roger and Rose for working on this project. Fund Raising Committee Report Hugh encouraged sign-ups for the East Coast Volleyball Food Booth for Memorial Day Weekend (May 24, 25 & 26). There are 33 slots that need to be filled so it’s important that all members participate who are able. Membership Committee Report Carol Walsh asked all team leaders who were named at the beginning of the year to stand up. Then she asked all team leaders who brought in a new member since the beginning of the year to remain standing. Only two remained. Carol spoke of some type of “punishment” for those who did not bring in a new member by the end of the year, but it’s not sure what that punishment might be. Carol reminds everyone that a potential new member’s first visit is free! You can look like good giving them a free lunch! Prizes were also mentioned for the team who brings in the most new members. Mary Kay products??? We’re not quite sure… More details at a later date. The next new member orientation so we can lose our “red badges of courage” and step up to the blue badges will be held on Friday, June 6th at 7:30am at Perkins. Twenty-two members attended the clean-up at Lederer Park on Saturday. Special thanks to Gary who had the dirtiest job of cleaning the grills and painting. Special thanks to the Kerner family with 5 helpers attending; led by Kelly Kerner! Fourteen members were present on Sunday for the memorial. A cousin of Eugene’s said that Eugene would have been proud. Centennial Community Project This is a joint project with the evening club. Of course, Rotary International celebrates its’ 100th anniversary in 2005. The joint committee of our club and the evening club has decided to make our project the Tot Lot in Central Parklet. Meg points out that currently the Tot Lot in the park is just a sand pit and concrete pillars. We have to raise about $25,000 and the project must be finished by Spring of 2005. There is no other park in the borough for small children to play which is why it was chosen. The area will be identified as the Rotary Tot Lot. A letter/proposal is ready to present to the borough on May 19th. Finally, congratulations to Paul Rutter for receiving the
