  • Paul Bell announced that Jason Harpster won the Whitewater Scholarship. He is the son of a dairy farmer who has never been on a plane.
  • The Rotary shirts are in and are being distributed. If you ordered one please contact MaryAnn Eberly to arrange picking it up. There are 4 outstanding. Please pay Carl Hill if you have not already. The denim shirts were $21.95 and the polo shirts were $14.95. The XXL sizes of each were $2 more.
  • The March Madness fund raiser is in process. stay tuned for results. Contact Paul for more information.
  • The evening club is sponsoring an Easter Egg hunt at Holmes Foster Park
  • Spring Clean-up at Lederer Park and lunch at Outback is May 3rd. We will meet at the park at 8:30 and hen after wards Outback is providing lunch at Outback near the Lowes store on the way to Toftrees.
  • There will be a memorial for Eugene Lederer at 2:00 on May 4th in Lederer Park. We are serving icecream (Gene's favorite) at the service. Please sign up to help. There will also be a bus to take people to the park since the park has limited parking.
  • The District Conference this year is on May 1-4 in Hagerstown, Maryland. The rates for the hotel, events, and meals etc.are available at this link for downloading. I'd suggest checking out the Hagerstown club's Web site too in case they throw anything up on the Web in addition. I try to keep the District Web site up to date to with information as I receive it. Like Jim and Carol's version last year, Hagerstown is offering the chance to purchase individual event tickets.
  • The club has a list serv. All active members are on it. The email address for it is SCDTROTARY-@LISTS.PSU.EDU. It only works if you are a subscriber so if you aren't on it and want to know even more about the club email Paul Rutter to see about your admission. It is a private listserv not open to the public. If you are already on it and want help with it please call or email me.

    Marlene Davis, January 2003
    Don Bedell, December 2002
    Tom Murray, Oct 2002
    Scott Rawson, August 2002

  • The club's Web site is on a new server after having lost the server when another ISP went under. Through the kindness of another local Internet Service Provider (Centre of the Web) and my own business (Paul Rutter Web Design), the club Web site is back on the Internet. The new address is http://www.centreweb.com/rotary/club/ or http://www.sc-rotary.org. I think all the files have been transferred or recreated now but there may be a few bugs to pick out. So if you notice a link or something not right please let know. Many thanks to Vicon for the three years of service we did get from them at no charge.
Previous Week's Speaker: Club Assembly

Our attendance was 76% for March. We're still in the black accordign to our treasurer.

Chris Potalivo updated us on his exchange student/long distance phone bill. Its sounds liek several persons, Carl, the club, Chris himself and Jana King had some ideas on how to make it right, and they did. I believe Chris said, Sprint reduced all calls to a normal level.

Discussions are still underway regarding the club's centennial project. Right now we are trying to do something in the parklet near Memorial Field with the evening club.

We are also working on creating a charitable foundation. The details are being worked out now.

A couple of Rotarians completed the Red Moshannon canoe race flying our banner from the stern of the canoe.

The Rotaract club is now an official Penn State club. Thanks to Geoff and Todd for their work in that regard.

There were 7 members at the district assembly last weekend. Dick Held and Pam Ferguson made a presentation on GSE teams. Linda Friedman made a presentation on medical equipment for Romania.

We will be running a concession stand during Memorial Day weekend for the volleyball tournament. With good weather we will do well--we hope!!

Dave Filson, a Rotarian with me up at the Lewistown club has completed an application to join our club here. I believe his request is in the ten day period now.
