Carl Hill is missing a soup pot from the festival of the trees.
If you have it by accident please let Carl know so he can make these
great soups again!
Attendance for December was 71%!
We grossed $6505 for the raffle tickets. We still have to pay for
the cruise, TV before knowing the net. We do know that the gross was
much lower than hoped.
Our exchange student from Chile went home after running up a phone
bill and not really being ready to be an exchange student.
Carl Hill also let us know that given the hostilities and unstableness
of the economy and political environment in Venezuela, our 8 exchange
students to there from the district have returned home. Most recently
Ron Taverno's daughter had been there. She returned this past summer
after completing here year though.
The meeting for January 30th looks like a fun one. Roger has arranged
a tour of the creamery. We'll park cars by the stadium and take a
bus up to the creamery. Samples I hope will be available!!
On January 25, the Rotary Foundation presents the Highschool GridIron

Two weeks ago
we lost the Club Web site when our Internet provider of server space
went
out of business. Through the kindness of a local Internet Service
Provider (Centre
of the Web) and my own business (Paul Rutter Web Design) the
club
Web site is back on the Internet. The new address
is http://www.centreweb.com/rotary/club/
or http://www.sc-rotary.org.
There are a few bugs to work out
with files that are missing as a result of our old ISP going out of
business without notice. I hope to have them back in place soon. Many
thanks to Vicon for the three years of service we did get from them
at no charge.
One of the bigger items we discussed that is not in the announcements
was the results of the raffle we just held. Some but not all points
brought to light include:
Mining our own money
Variety of capabilities of our diverse membership
regarding time and money
Ticket price too high
Raise money first before making pledges
Learning experience
Number of tickets each member had to sell was
too high
Weak decision making by the board
Increase dues
What happened to the coupon book, easy money
vs giving club bad name?
Decision to stop the coupon book not made known
to club in a significant manner
Harry
Zimbler, January 3; Teresa Davis, January 6;
Chris Kerner, January 24
(if I missed yours pleaseemail me)
Etc.
