Happy Bucks
from: Dick Jones was happy to see that Dick Held had survived being
in Bali when the earthquake and tsunami struck.Dick Held was happy
to have survived the tsunami as well.Hugh Mose was happy to announce
his wife's affiliation with a new audiology clinic. I believe it is Albrecht
Audiology now.
Don't forget to sell your coupon
books. Highlights or changes to the coupon book this year include
three Indian restaurants, Red's cheeseburgers and others.
Linda Friedman sent out updated club rosters via
the club listserv.
Thanks to the 40 members that helped out for the Festival of the Trees.
Preliminary indications are that we did quite well selling snacks and
soup.

We need to sell bricks. Sign your
Brick Pledge today! Maybe it would be a
good idea to take care of this for tax year 2004. All contributions
go through the new Club foundation-a 501(c)3 organization that was established
last year.Only 15 members have purchased bricks so far. We
can meet our goal if everyone buys one and sells one.
Please do your make-ups. One can use the E-club
if needed. We need to get our attendance numbers higher.we were at 55%
in November.
Jim
Eberly reported about Rotary's Central Parklet
Project sponsored by the two SC clubs. The new "Children's Play
Space" will be lot of fun for kids. The total costs of the project are
$50,000. 50% needs to be raised by the two SC clubs as part of Rotary's
100th anniversary in 2005. Bricks are on
sale ($100 for first kid name, $50 for each subsequent). The bricks will
be used for the walkway. A pamphlet was distributed.
Please be selling bricks!
The club has a list
serv. All active members are on it. The email address for it is SCDTROTARY-@LISTS.PSU.EDU. Email Paul Rutter to see about your admission.
It is a private listserv not open to the
public. If you are already on it and want help with it please call or
email me.
There are two new Web pages up. One is for Rotary
Foundation Program alumni. The hope or goal behind
this page is to keep members aware of persons in our community that might
benefit further from Rotary by membership or participation in other things
we are doing. The second page is on the District Web site. It honors the
Veterans in our Rotary community. Both pages are still in an initial
building stage so if you know of anyone that has been left out, please
let me know so I can include them.

Week's Speaker: Club Assembly |
We inducted
three new members today: There were Laurel Sanders proposed by Paul
Rutter; Ted Staats proposed by Carol Walsh; and Bernadette Kasshanna
proposed by Carl Hill. In the weeks to come we hear from each in a classification
talk Please make each feel welcome to the club.
Linda Friedman (Club Secretary) announced the member participation
for December 2004: 60%). Some members have not checked off names during
that month.
Carl Hill (Club Treasurer) distributed the monthly Treasurer's Report.
No questions from the assembly.
Joe Guise will be on leave for the first quarter of the year. FYI members
on leave are stilled billed for Rotary dues. Expenses for meals are
withdrawn. The membership committee is currently working on additional
guidelines for "leave of absence".
Don Bedell proposed Barbara C for membership. She will undergo a ten
day waiting period. If there are any concerns regarding this proposal
please contact Terry Edwards our membership chair or President Roger
Fetter.
Todd Bacastow was cited for his tenth anniversary as a member of the
club.
New officers for next year were nominted and voted on. Next years officers
include: Pres: Teresa Davis; 1st VP: Doug Holmes; 2nd VP Leanne Martin;
Treas: Carl Hill; Asst Treas: Mark Whitfield; Sec: Linda Friedman; Asst
Sec: Paul Rutter; new board members: Rose Kauffman; Mary DeArmitt. Board
members serving their second year include: Harry Zimbler and Rainer
Domalski.
Hugh Mose, president of the Downtown State College Rotary Charitable
Foundation spoke to the club as we held that organizations annual meeting.
The board of the DTSCRCF has five persons: The immediate past president
of the club, the current president of the club, and the president elect
(or 1st VP), and two members that are appointed. This year theyr were
Rose Kauffman and Judy Myrick. Rose served a secretary and Judy as treasurer.
The club decided to elect a third person to the DTSCRCF board. Dick
Jones was elected to that position. Each board member is elected to
a three year term that will be staggered.
As a parting thought, Hugh reminded us all that the Charitable Foundation
is a great vehicle for bequests from estates
